The Activist App Project was Jon's first attempt at building a civic engagement app. A nonprofit organization headquartered in Baltimore, The Activist App Project's aim was to encourage and empower the public to take an active, informed role in local and federal legislation.
The app allowed users to build political profiles which were used to calculate compatibility ratings with local and federal legislators, pieces of legislation, nonprofit organizations, petitions, and protests. Users would be notified of changes to legislation they cared about and could contact their legislators or make donations directly from the app.
In February 2016, The Activist App Project launched an IndieGoGo campaign and raised $700. Unfortunately, due to team-member relocation and limited resources, the Activist App Project was put on hiatus shortly thereafter.
