The Ethics of Sex Work

Should the sale of sexual services, the purchase of sexual services, and the operation of sex businesses (e.g. brothels) be criminalized or decriminalized? Would sex work decriminalization lead to more or less harm for sex workers? Is any sex work truly consensual? Is selling sexual services morally wrong? Is sex work misogynistic or is it empowering for women?

Join Real Talk Chiang Mai every Wednesday for meaningful conversation, unbiased talks, games, music, art, panelist Q&As, and more exploring contemporary divisive issues from gender pronouns to veganism. This week, we explore the arguments around cultural appropriation!

Drink, think, discuss!

WEEKLY WRAPUP

"Pornography, Sex Work... I see what kind of 'philosophy' this is!"

I understand why some people may be confused by the topics we choose. But this isn't high-school philosophy. We choose topics that affect lives. Topics that are seldom seriously discussed elsewhere. And I couldn't be more thankful for the wise, humble, accepting, respectful, positive, curious community that is evolving to explore these each week. Thank you deeply, everyone who was able to join the Chiang Mai Philosophy Forum's exploration of The Ethics of Sex Work. Hope to see you all next week for East Brain, West Brain, exploring the proposed psychological differences between easterners and westerners.

We are expanding the team! If you would like to get involved, please send me a message. Currently, we are looking for Presenters, Researchers, Expert Panelist Coordinators, a Diversity Advisor, a Local Project Assistant, Singer/Songwriters, Artists, Social Media Manager, Videographer, and a Zoom Technician.

Special thanks to Food4Thought for providing us a home, and for all the work you do to support the Chiang Mai community. To Aman Parikh for managing the front door with a smile. To Izzy Yoma for writing a new song each week! To Lara Hardie and Dino Carobene for your artwork. To Joanna Berg and Bay Sareephan for capturing the energy on film. To Josh Opperman for your philosophy advice. To Tarek Mansour for your business advice. And to Như Ngô for managing everything else in the background.

And infinite gratitude to our Patrons. Your support allows us to ensure that our team of researchers, musicians, artists, presenters, administrators, and designers get paid for their work. If you'd like to support this project, please consider becoming a member at www.patreon.com/realtalkphilosophy.
